Travelnets

admin suggested using a neutral user for shared travelnets (and other owned nodes like POI). Suggested user "spawn" was not available, so "shared" was created for now. Any better Ideas please submit them.

  • I suggest adding a feature to the travelnet so networks starting with "(O)" are completely open to other players, based on the protection around them. As for the POI, maybe that could be changed to protection based as well? - AceRichman

We need to define how to name the networks: -- Shops ?Shops1...n ?

  • Maybe base the names on the material around each travelnet? e.g. diamond_shops, mese_shops, etc. - AceRichman

Globes

I also like to move the Mars/Moon/Earth globes from Warden to the new spawn, they look pretty cool.... a's Suggestions

I don't like how in the current spawn area, there's a little section that you spawn in that's separated from the main box with a door. I would prefer if Spawn 2.0 has the actual spawn point inside the main area and no little extensions on the sides. In the teleportation links to locations on Earth, we should add links to minor, unofficial towns and to major, but isolated public builds that the builders are okay with people settling around.

admin store aka Sky Mall

If we move it, then please outside the rainbow. I'd prefer to have a prominent mosaic on shops-island to skymall than actually having it at spawn. This under the moto: spawn is a place that links to places. - SwissalpS

I agree. Sky mall is 16 by 28 by 18, so it can fit on the shops island. But with the basement having to be inside the bottom half-sphere, it would need to be right in the center, so it would block the path to the rainbow, and it'd be awkward to find a place for the korlen shopping network. And I think it is best not to put buildings on top of the islands (except for the islands themselves). Large open areas with few or no doors are good. — Coil (talk) 02:48, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

Bridges

Currently 3 bridges are flat underneath and one is arched. Do we make space bridge half arched or arch all bridges and put something fitting under central island?

    • Is the area inside/under the shop platform going to be used for the admin shop vendors? I don't think we need the extra space for travelnets if they are going to be used. - AceRichman
    • Yes, if admin agrees to it, the lower level is reserved for possible admin shop that sells fewer items than skymall. Alternative is to not use the lower level at all and have a telemosaic to current Sky-Mall instead (reducing number of inventories at spawn -> reducing lag) - SwissalpS
    • Current idea with travelnets, is to cover/decorate each with a unique material/colour to make them easier to distinguish - SwissalpS
    • Vendors have a lot of node metadata, inventories and entities, but there are 70 admin vendors at Sky Mall, so they could all fit on that single floor if admin thinks that's desirable. Otherwise, the floor inside the shops half-sphere should be removed. — Coil

"Tutorial" island

  • move red spaceship to over space area [SwissalpS made a copy, near space-island feel free to move it or change materials]
  • what about AdamWolf's airplanes?
  • Tie-Fighter, Tie-Bomber?
  • SwissalpS would like the balloon at more prominent location or linked to from tutorials.

  • no, why should news access be limited? - AceRichman

  • Central platform is small and I hardly ever look at signs after the first time. Also, it's nice for the central platform to be plain grass and flowers and to resist urge to put too much there. - coil

Train line around spawn?

  • Trains are only visible from 20 nodes away, so that means extra lag for little visibility. - coil

Short chat tutorial at spawn or in tutorial area?

  • make a tutorial linked from tutorial area - SwissalpS
  • A book at the entrance of the tutorials area with rules, chat usage (channels, languages, messages, whisper), basic commands (/help, /spawn, /sethome, /home, /killme), and links to wiki is probably good. Anything with demos, signs, or more than a few books: best to make a separate tutorial and link there with beacons. — Coil
